Interpreting Allusions From Chinese Into English In Political Text Under The Perspective Of The Interpretive Approach

In recent years, the allusions in political speeches have attracted more and more attention from the media and other fields and have raised waves of translation heat. Allusions, with their historical and cultural connotations, are distinct cultural carriers. With simple words containing rich and profound meanings, allusions are difficult points in the interpreting of political texts.Based on relevant research about political texts and under the perspective of interpretive approach, this thesis, taking characteristics of political texts and their interpreting into account, presents a new method for allusion interpreting with2012Wen Jiabao Press Conference as a case study, in order to address the difficult point, allusion interpreting, in political interpreting. On the basis of the three-step translation process of the interpretive theory,"Four Steps of Interpretive Translation" is a kind of theoretical attempt and can provide reference for Chinese-English interpreting practice and teaching.With this thesis as a basis, comparative case studies between three-step translation process of the interpretive theory and "Four Steps of Interpretive Translation" could be done in future research to testify the value of "Four Steps of Interpretive Translation" to guide interpreting practice. At the same time, concrete methods could be drawn from interpreting practice applying the four-step method, which promotes theoretical upgrading of the four-step method reversely.
