The thesis, which consists of five chapters, is a mock Chinese-English consecutive interpretation. The source text is from speeches on Enterprise and Farmers Signing Ceremony for Standardizing Tilapia Farming in Hainan.When the author first did interpreting of fishery industry, as lack of experience of interpreting and background of the industry, the author tend to bear each word of the source language in mind and interpreted word by word. However, it brought great burden to the author, and actually the interpreting performance was not good. Inspired by the interpretive theory which stems from interpreting practice and differs greatly from traditional linguistic theories. Under interpretive theory, interpreting is the process that the interpreter conveys the meaning of original text by signs and cognitive complements. The interpreter shall purchase the equivalence of meaning or effect of original text, rather than that of linguistic unit. The author applied the theory to practice,with the increase of background knowledge of the industry, the author found that interpreting ability was improved. Thus, in this project, the author intends to analyze its application in interpreting practice and to sum up useful strategies for future reference.
