With the rapid growth of Chinese economy and China’s increasing involvement in global affairs, the world is expecting to hear China’s voice. China is also enhancing its economic, political, cultural and educational ties with other countries, in which language is no doubt the invisible barrier for people to overcome. In light of this situation, the interpreting industry is undergoing the golden era of progress. The interpreters act as important bridges of cultures and ideas, bearing the responsibility of passing on great thoughts, exchanging emotions and strengthening friendship. In the course of some influential summits, such as the UN General Assembly, international, regional and industrial conferences, simultaneous interpreting, due to its timeliness and synchronism, has become a crucial part of them. It’s been recognized that simultaneous interpreting sets up quite a high standard for interpreters’ bilingual skills and wide-ranging knowledge. Interpreters should deeply understand the latest researches of all fields. The question of how to accurately translate the speaker’s messages and deal with vague language arouses heated discussion in the industry. This thesis is based on the vague language brought along from the speech and poses such effective strategies as to tackle the problem so as to better convey the speaker’ message and offer reference to the interpreting in the future.
