Since Zadeh established his famous Fuzzy Sets Theory in 1961, vague language had begun to arouse philosophers, researchers and scholars’ high attention, and fruitful results had been achieved. When people use language communication, the vagueness of language is unavoidable. Vague language is a kind of objective existence, also is ubiquitous. Since translation is an interlingual transfer, it also involves vagueness. In interpreting activities, vague information is always unavoidable. Due to the characteristics of time-limited and high-stress in interpreting activities, it’s difficult to identify the vague information sometimes, and it is hard to figure out the vague information’s specific meaning in specific context and environment. Besides, there are always misunderstandings or misleading. When interpreters meet the vague language, they will consume more brainpower. Thus, it increases more interpretation difficulties. At present, there are very few researches about the relation between language vagueness and translation focusing on the field of translation. The researches combined with the theory of vague language and the Speeches of President Xi Jinping are much rarer.During the interpreting process, there is a great deal of vague expression information, so how to recognize and deal with fuzzy information plays a key role to achieve "accurate, smooth, quick" interpretation standards. This essay will adopt the interpretation theories of explanation to analysis vague language interpretation strategy in the Speeches of President Xi Jinping, respectively from the four vague language phenomena of the numbers, the pronouns, the qualifications and the grammar structures. It sums up four effective methods of dealing with vague language in interpreting. The first one is the explanation method, that is, when the source language is vague, which is difficult to understand or easy to lead misunderstanding, there should be explanations; second, matching method, that is, when the vague information in the source language needed to be retained, translators should use vague words in the target language to translate them; third, the technique of omission in translation, that is, the vague words without significant meaning or the ones with repetitive meaning should be omitted in the target language; the fourth one is the mix method, that is, for some relatively vague words or information with few information but a large number of words, it is a more effective way to use mix method to integrate the information to interpret it briefly and efficiently. In this paper, the interpretation theory is applied to the vague language in the Speeches of President Xi Jinping analysis, summarizing four kinds of vague language interpretation strategies, showing a certain practical value.
