The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among career decision barriers, career anxiety and career decision of university students. Besides, the study examines the variables in career decision barriers, career anxiety and career decision of university students from different backgrounds. The measuring tools used in this study include "State-Trait Anxiety Inventory","the Chinese Career Factors Inventory". The questionnaires were administered to429university students in Nanjing University. The results of survey were analyzed through descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation, interaction analysis, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results of the study are as follows:1. The level of university students’career anxiety and career decision is medium to low.2. Senior students are higher than sophomore, junior students, and the anxiety level of male students is higher than female students in "career anxiety "3. Senior students are higher than sophomore, junior students, and male students is higher than female students in "career decision ".4. The effect of career decision barriers varies among students from different backgrounds.5. There is interaction and causal relationship among career decision barriers, career anxiety and career decision. 5.1Trait anxiety is indirectly related to the level of decidedness and comfort of career decision through a full mediation of career decision barriers.5.2Career decision barriers could cause state anxiety and career anxiety. State anxiety and career anxiety have a mediate effect on the relationship between career decision barriers and career decision.5.3State anxiety is of reciprocal causation with career decision.5.4Career decision barriers have positive effct on state anxiety and career anxiety.In light of the findings, implications and recommendations regarding future research, career counseling interventions, and measures aimed at promoting university students’ career decision are presented.
