"Chong Ben Xi Mo" And "Chong Ben Ju Mo"

Wang bi proposed two seemingly contradictory propositions of "Chong benxi mo" and "Chong ben ju mo" when he annotated Lao Zi，the article startedfrom two propositions, and discusses the unity of two propositions at the overalllevel of Wang Bi’ s philosophy.Firstly, the article elaborates thought and the social background from theangle of the history and social history, and point out the internal cause to thebirth of Wang Bi’ s philosophy──the cultural characteristic of the compromiseof Confucianism and Taoism in Wei-Jin period, the external cause to the birth ofWang Bi’ s philosophy──social custom of rural life and idle talk, internal andexternal factors make to make Wang Bi’ s philosophy with the characteristic ofConfucianism and Taoism.Secondly, focuses on discussing the implications of "Chong ben xi mo" and"Chong ben ju mo"."Chong ben xi mo" represents that Wang Bi not onlyinherited and developed Lao Zi’ s ontology, but also established Wang B’ sconcept of having no-being as the essence", I call it Upward Direction."Chongben ju mo" represents that Wang Bi creative interpret Lao Zi from concretereality, and apply theory of having no-being as the essence" to practice, I call itDownward Direction.Finally, the article explain that Wang Bi complete the construction ofontology, from the angle of uniform of Upward Direction and DownwardDirection, and discuss the defect of Wang Bi’ s ontology, carding main views ofthe contradiction between "Chong ben xi mo" and "Chong ben ju mo", proposeda idea about both of them are in interior unity.
