The history of the "Educated youth down to the countryside" was more than20years. This mass movement by the official organization should be said that the longest movement in the history of the Peopleā€™s Republic of China. During the period of the" Cultural Revolution", the educated youth form the city and the educated youth form the countryside, these who were both organized to the countryside, were treated the same as a group. Of course, we should analysis the difference between them. Especially, we should analysis the difference of the personal thought, the social status, the social influence and the contributions between them. After all, the educated youth form the city and the educated youth form the countryside can not delegate the overall image and fate of the educated youth in that era.Undoubtedly, the vast of the educated youth downing to the countryside would have an affect on rural society in that era. In the previous studies, all of scholar affirmed the contribution on rural development of the educated youth form the city at that time. But most of them ignored the contribution on rural development of the educated youth form the countryside. Through the collection of the related works and some academic dissertation, I pick up the latest results and the disputes. And I sort out the information I need from them. At the same time, I will utilize various research methods of scientific and rational to analysis the literature material. So I refine my own views that the contributions of the educated youth form the countryside is the most important and the contributions of the educated youth form the city is the second important. There are several reasons:The educated youth form the city were forced to the countryside which lead to instability. The educated youth form the city lack of understanding of the rural environment which lead to mentally confused. Farmers were neither welcome nor trust the educated youth form the city. The educated youth form the city also were bound by the "Re education" theory and the limited knowledge. All of these provide historical reference to the current implementation which called the" three supports and one assistance" policy. Firstly, full attention must be paid to the intention and the actual situation. We should adhere to the people-oriented and the principle of seek truth from facts. Secondly, we should allow and promote the courage to explore and the flexible forms of work. We should make full use of their potential and the rural potential. Thirdly, do not try so hard to "root", but try to emphasize the contribution and the harvest. At length, we must respect the interests of college students. In the begins of the paper, I will explain the concept of "the educated youth ","the educated youth form the countryside ","the educated youth form the city", and "the contribution". In order to make the study more accurate and more specific, I emphasize the distinction between the educated youth form the city and the educated youth form the countryside. The main body of the paper will occupy four chapters which from the third chapter to the sixth chapter. In the main body of the paper, I will make a comparative analysis of the different contribution on rural development between the educated youth form the city and the educated youth form the countryside. The study includes four aspects:the educated youth form the city and the educated youth form the countryside as the rural ideological and political direction of the guardian, the rural science and technology practitioners, the rural culture, education and health service, the complement of rural social labor respectively to contribute the rural social construction at the time. Finally we can see that the contributions of the educated youth form the countryside is the most important and the contributions of the educated youth form the city is the second important. Among them, I also analysis its causes.
