English for science and technology (EST) is an important and special literary form, which has its own distinct characteristics in vocabulary, syntactic structure and other aspects. When translating EST, translators should know its stylistic features, be familiar with the corresponding translation theory and the translation skills under the guidance of the theory and flexibly put the theory and skills into translation practice. This paper makes an analysis and conclusion on EST based on the article--The Impact of4G Technology on Commercial Interactions, Economic Growth, and U.S. Competitiveness, which uses The Impact of4G Technology in the title for short in order to satisfy the requirement of brevity of the title. The first chapter introduces the research background and meaningfulness of this paper and the preparation of translation. The second chapter expounds the stylistic features of EST from the aspects of vocabulary, syntax and forms combining with translation materials. The third chapter discusses about the guidance of functionalist translation theory on EST translation from text typology and Skopostheorie. It also studies the translation strategies of EST under the guidance of functionalist translation theory from vocabulary and sentence. The translation strategies include the choice of the meaning of words, conversion of word classes, etc. The last chapter makes a conclusion and points out the parts that need to be further improved.
