Translation Strategies Of Conditional Sentences In Exclusive Distribution Agreement

This is a translation report of translation of conditional sentence. In the contractstranslated by the author, there exist a large number of conditional sentences, whichsignificantly proves the importance and popularity of the conditional sentence in thelegal texts. Conditional sentence, in the legal texts, can be divided into conditionprecedent and condition subsequent. The author summarizes some translationstrategies for the condition precedent and condition subsequent in the exclusivedistribution agreement translated by the author, based on the features of the conditionprecedent and condition subsequent respectively.This report is composed of four chapters. Chapter one introduces the backgroundof the project, significance of the topic and layout of the report. Chapter twosummarizes the classification of conditional sentence and conjunctions or otherexpressions that introduce conditional sentence in the legal text, so as to help readershave a better understanding of the conditional sentences in the report. Chapter threediscusses the translation strategies for said conditional sentences. The anthor will firstelaborate the differences between English and Chinese conditional sentence, thensummarize the translation strategies for condition precedent and condition subsequentrespectively. Chapter four is conclusion. The author summarizes the experience,lessons and finds unsolved problems in the project through reflection on thetranslation process.
