Second language acquisition as an independent interdisciplinary, with relativelyshort history, but the rapid development, has now formed a huge area of research. AsEllis (1994) referred to a ‘second language acquisition research has become involvedin a wide field of disciplines. At the same time, the discipline in a way has become avery vague boundary area of research.’ Chinese as a Second language, keeps pacewith the times. It draws on relevant research results of second acquisition, making theperspective of how to teach to how to learn. so that the learning can promote to thereligion.Under the promotion of Chinese language background, I was fortunate enough togo to Thailand to become a volunteer Chinese teacher and work in the PhusangDistrict Non-formal and In-formal Education Center for one year. In teaching practiceI could contact with students of different ages, while the age span is relatively large. Iselected the6-11years old as children’ group study,30-50years old students asresearch subjects in the adult group. This paper begins with theoretical research of asecond language, to further explore the similarities and differences between childrenand adults’ second language acquisition. Thereby can observe Chinese acquisition ofthese two groups in specific teaching practices and make correlation analysis. At lastwe can draw conclusions and give the corresponding teaching suggestions to Chineselanguage.This article will be divided into five parts for specific elaboration.The first part is an introduction: it discusses the motivation and significance,research ideas and methods. It also introduces literature review from the second language acquisition research, Chinese acquisition research, child and adult secondlanguage acquisition comparative study of these three areas described in detail. Thesecond part is the theoretical basis for this article. It start三with definition and thetheoretical basis of the second language and in the part of theory focuses on theuniversal grammar theory, the critical period hypothesis and the affective filterhypothesis. The third part is the Thai children and adults comparison of Chineseacquisition. Starting with the acquisition of the environment, affected by the mothertongue and the acquisition process to study at the similarities, and then studied at thedifference between the acquisition mechanism, cognitive, emotional factors. Thefourth part is teaching practice. From the object of the research, purpose, teachingcases and analysis to study. The fifth part is the revelation to the Thai Chineseteaching of children and adults. Firstly, combining the characteristics of Thaichildren and make recommendations on Chinese teaching for them. Secondly,combining the characteristics of Thai adults takes suggestion on adult’s Chineseteaching in Thailand. Finally, this paper extends research highlights. According to thesimilarities and difference between children and adults in Thailand Chineseacquisition of complementary, proposed exploration of Chinese parentage classroom.
