With the rapid development of the opening up of China and the tourism industry,more and more overseas visitors come to China to do sight-seeing. As a result, it becomesan important task to introduce the unique Chinese tourism culture, history and scenic spotsto foreign visitors. The tourism discourse is different from other discourses, in that, it isrich in historical allusion, local culture, folk customs etc. The translation of suchdiscourses should focus on the relevant historical information so that the target languagereaders can produce as similar reaction as possible to English version as the Chinesereaders.During these few years, Yangquan has developed quickly, especially in t ourismindustry. Because of its unique historical culture, Yangquan attracts a lot of domestic andinternational visitors. Yangquan has AAAA State-level scenic spots---Cangshan Mountain,Shi Pingmei’s Former Residence, Linli Guanwang Temple, The Momentum of GreatCampaign with One Hundred Regiments and other historical scenic spots. How to introducethe tourism culture in Yangquan is an important work, and it concerns the economicdevelopment of Yangquan. At the same time, there are limited tourism texts. We have a lotof Chinese texts, but few English versions.The report will take Eugene Nida’s theory---Functional Equivalence to guide thetranslation of Yangquan’s tourisim discouses, mainly the historical tourist sites inYangquan, to analyze the translation of some local culture, especially Chinesefour-character idioms, the author uses the skills of adding the annotation, free translation and combination to solve the problem. This translation report has some practical meanings.On one hand, it helps to spread Chinese culture. On the other hand, it promotes thedevelopment of tourism industry in Yangquan.
