Though Chinese and Russian languages are two completely different languages, but once people have learnt the idioms, they are able to express their meaning vividly and lively; besides, to have a good command of idioms is very useful in comprehending nation’s customs, life habits, religion and beliefs, history. This thesis compares human character that is displayed in Chinese and Russian idioms, compiles the differences in semantic meaning, discusses the reasons of those differences and elaborates how these reasons became the difficult points for Russian students while using Chinese idioms. The author hopes that this thesis will be of a help for teaching Chinese and Russian languages.
