A Report On The Chinese-English Translation Of The Safety Project Design Plan Of Sanna Yemen City

Security system engineering, an emerging industry in recent years, is a protection system which aims at protecting the safety of city. With the development of security system, the translation tasks for files are increasing constantly. As the quality of translation will directly affect the construction of security system, it is necessary to do some research on the translation problems of such files.Taking the Safety Project Plan of Sanaa Yemen City for example, this report mainly studies the Chinese-English translation. The contents of Sanaa Project include construction goal, construction contents, overall plan and detailed design plan. The author mainly undertakes the translation work of the construction of Second Grade Command Center, which consists of the design scheme of large screen display system, video conference system, platform architecture and computer room environment system.Objectivity is a main character in the translation of scientific and technical material. According to the requirement of objectivity, the reference and definition of language should be clear. Therefore, the translator should reproduce the original text’s message as comprehensively and truly as possible. In this report, the author analyzes Chinese null-subject sentences and "have/has" structure from the lexical level under the principle of objectivity. Passive voice,"there be" structure and formal subject, the most popular ways, are used to deal with the corresponding problems. The report is intended to increase author’s experience of translating such kind of file.
