This dissertation is a practical report based on a Chinese-English engineering translation project Inspection Plan of the Construction Fire-fighting Facilities, which applies Computer Aided Translation(C AT in abbreviation) technology. The questions that this report will deal with are as follows: the translation strategies of the fire- fighting building engineering; the advantages of C AT technology, Yaxin C AT system, in the aspects such as project management, style of the target text, unification of terminologies, translation efficiency and translation accuracy; and the effective interaction of combining the translator with the C AT technology. The research objective in this repo rt is to verify the feasibility of using the technology of Yaxin C AT system to assist the translators with the translation of the construction engineering project.In this report, the author has described, in details, the process of using the CAT technology Yaxin C AT system to assist him with the C-E translation of the engineering project Inspection Plan of the Construction Fire-fighting Facilities; introduced the applied translation theory, that is, the theory of Functional Equivalence; analyzed some typical translation cases; summarized the advantages of using Yaxin CAT system to translate the translation project; and at last, generally summarized the practical experience and the problems having appeared in the process of using Yaxin C AT system.The research significance of the report is as follows: to help readers learn about the working process of Yaxin CAT system; to help readers learn about the advantages and disadvantages of using the C AT technology Yaxin CAT system to translate the texts of the building engineering project; and help readers learn the feasibility of realizing the goal of combining the human translation with CAT technology in the process of translating the texts in the quite professional fields. |
