Nanzhao Dali kingdom is an important part of the Tang and Song dynasties, they are development and prosperity of multi-ethnic country.And it is also the most important in the history of yunnan culture, the Buddhism culture is the major form of this period of history culture. Based on the Buddhism in Nanzhao Dali kingdom as the research object, clarify the whole situation of Buddhism in the Nanzhao Dali kingdom period of history. The introduction part introduces the subject of the origin and significance of topics, summarized the academic study of Buddhism in Nanzhao Dali kingdom, and research methods presented in this paper.The text is divided into four chapters, the first chapter systematically introduces the time-space range of Nanzhao Dali kingdom and its most prominent cultural characteristics——buddhist culture. The second chapter render the Buddhism in Nanzhao Dali kingdom from two aspects of transmission route and major denominations. The third chapter from two aspects of religious and political, religious and social life analysis Buddhism characteristics, especially the tantric Buddhism’s influence on the society at that time. The fourth chapter from the perspective of buddhist cultural heritage, the detailed study of Nanzhao Dali kingdom buddhist culture. After the research, the author of this paper concludes early Buddhism in Nanzhao from the central plains, such as India, Tubo more gradually introduced to Nanzhao Dali kingdom, after Buddhism was introduced to get the support of the royal family, finally led to the Nanzhao Dali kingdom more representative common prosperity prosperous time of Buddhism. At the same time, the spread of Buddhism is a booster force of formed Bai in Erhai area.
