The thesis investigates the origin and branches of TaiyuanWangs, does statistics about their marital status in the form oftables and concludes their marital characteristics. The Taiyuan Wangs come from Clan Ji and are descendantsof King Ling of Zhou, Prince Jin. In history, Jinyang County andQi County are the main counties of Taiyuan Wangs. Mainbranches of Taiyuan Wangs consist of Jinyang Wangs and QiCounty Wangs. Jiyang Wangs are mainly Wangqiong pedigreewhile Qi County Wangs are mainly Wang Zhongsi tribe, WangXuanqi tribe, Wang Bingzhi tribe and Hedong Wangs tribe and soon.Jinyang Wangs, as the authentic branch of Taiyuan Wangs inTang Dynasty, have less marriage with the royal family of Li, hassome marital relationship with common Tu People and has moremarital relationship with Shandong Bureaucrats. Besides, in spite of the Marriage Command, the marital percentagebetween Jinyang Wangs and other clans conducting maritalcommand is still higher, showing small gains. Especiallycoupled with An-Shi Rebellion, the marital command exists inname only and unenforceable with increasingly weakenedCentral control on the locals.Meanwhile, Wangs in Qi County has more maritalrelationship with the common Bureaucrats and has lessrelationship with Shandong Bureaucrats.Jinyang Wangs admire not royal marriages and keep it at arespectful distance, and keep close marital relationship withShandong Bureaucrats like Cuis, Zhengs Lus etc. while QiCounty Wangs hold a positive attitude towards the royalmarriage. In the Tang Dynasty, despite their frustration inpolitics and being suppressed in the social status, JinyangWangs still pay more attention to the family status, maritaltradition, and family academic context and so on. And as adistant collateral branch of Taiyuan Wangs, Qi County Wangsare low in the social and cultural status, which does notconform to Shandong Bureaucrats’ marriage values.
