A Report On The E-C Translation Of The Interest Rate Assumption And The Maturity Structure Of The Assets Of A Life Insurance Company

Insurance industry started later in China than in Europe and the US, but is developing very fast. People in China are gaining better knowledge on insurance and their need for insurance is growing. Thus research on insurance is becoming more significant. The early research in the western world has high value for Chinese researchers to refer to, but not all insurance practitoners and applicants can read relevant articles in foreign languages immediately. Consequently, translation of documents on insurance has great importance for the development of insurance in China.In documents on insurance, there are a large number of words about finance and actuarial science. Also, there exist many everyday words worth studying. Many sentences in such documents are complicated, which becomes challenges for translators. In order to solve these problems, a research paper on insurance is taken as the object for this translation study. The problems discovered during the translation process are discussed in this translation practice report. In the part of case study, the two aspects of words and sentences are analy2ed in detail to work out the solutions to these problems, and the importance of cognition in context and Chinese expression skills is emphasized to give reference to further relevant studies.
