This is a project report aims at discussing the translation of international business contracts. The author has been experiencing the internship as an English translator in NARI Solar Technology Co., Ltd. The original text studied in this report is the onshore and offshore contracts signed between NARI Solar Technology Co., Ltd. and a Philippine corporation, on the purpose of solving the design and associated problems of the project. By employing the "Functional Equivalence Theory" in the process of the translation, and aiming at achieving a faithful translation, the author tries best to make understanding of the original text by the native speaker as the same as the understanding of the translation by the target readers. Meaning equivalence is firstly considered by the author when translating the long sentences, and style equivalence ranks the second consideration. The report contains five chapters. Chapter One is the introduction, which briefly introduce the background and significance of the project, and the structure of the project report. Chapter Two presents the theoretical basis of contract translation and Nida’s Theories and his functional equivalence is particularly presented. The basic information of the original text is specified in Chapter Three. Chapter Four discusses some particular translation examples with the instruction of the translation theories, which shows the import role that translation theories played in the contract translation. Chapter Five is the conclusion of this report, including major findings, limitations, and recommendations for future study. The author also reviews a large amount of associated articles to have a better understanding of the textual features of contracts, the detailed content of "Functional Equivalence Theory" and the existing studies in the field of the contract translation. Through analyzing the translation of the onshore and offshore contract in this project report tries to find out the existing problems in the process of the contract translation and tries to solve the problems with the help of the translation theories. The report aims at popularizing the application of "Functional Equivalence Theory" in the translation of technical service contracts to improve the translation.
