Travelling is an activity for leisure. Generally speaking, the tour guide interpreter’s work is supposed to be easy and lively, which is quite different from the serious atmosphere of interpretation on foreign affairs, conference interpretation and business interpretation. It is assumed that simultaneous interpretation and general consecutive interpretation are more difficult than the tour guide interpretation. However, the Young Ambassadors Seminar for the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games is an international meeting, which is on a large scale and has high requirements. Moreover, the interpreting serves the Young Ambassadors from all around the world, so the preparation before tour guide interpreting seems quite important.Tour guide interpreting belongs to a type of liaison-escort interpreting. Its form is mainly based on consecutive interpreting and sight interpreting on the spot. One big difference between the tour guide interpretation and other interpretations is that in the process of tourist activities, tour guide interpreters can not take notes in a general way. They can only rely on the brain to remember, and then organize language to express. If they can not interpret the source language which can be received on the spot in a short time, they will not complete the communicative goals and cultural communication in tour guide interpreting, and is bound to affect or delay the following tourist activities. The project report will start from the problems the reporter met in the four interpreting projects for Culture and Education Programme of Young Ambassadors Seminar for the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games, ready to analyze key and difficult points in the preparation for tour guide interpreting, including diversified themes of interpretation, complex terminology, cultural and language barriers, and high frequency of emergency. Through careful analysis and study, the reporter puts forward a series of corresponding solutions. Finally I have some suggestions for tour guide interpreters through the enlightenment of making full preparations before tour guide interpreting.
