Simile, metaphor and metonymy are some of the richest parts of a language and they havea huge role and function in the language. All these tropes are interpolated into a text for thepurpose of emphasis. Using these tropes can increase the level and the quality of the languageand also can increase the express results.Nowadays, especially in the newspaper styles of Chinese and Ukrainian languages we cansee a quite wide use of simile, metaphor or metonymy. In all types of magazines, journals anddifferent articles all these tropes are wildly used and have become one of the most popular forexpressing and explaining the political or social information. In China most language expertsstudy the simile, metaphor and metonymy types and functions and analyze the origins of thesetropes.Now all the political news and social events are spread through the newspapers andmagazines or internet-based publishing houses. The purpose of this research is to compare simile,metaphor and metonymy used in newspaper styles of Ukrainian and Chinese languages. Due tosuch kind of research the Ukrainian students who learn Chinese language and Chinese studentswho learn Ukrainian can more clearly understand the most valuable tropes in both languages,will be able to understand the origin of some tropes and will use it more often in their speeches.The purpose of the research is also to find out the difference in these tropes in two languages andmake it clear for the students in order to make the right usage.The research is mainly divided into five parts. The first part is an introduction that explainsthe main purpose of the research, the subject of the research, the study field and the innovation ofthe research; the second part includes the definition of the newspaper styles and briefintroduction of them in Ukrainian and Chinese languages. The third and the fourth parts includethe usage of simile, metaphor and metonymy in the newspaper styles with the examples and briefanalysis of the reasons of the difference in two languages. The fifth one is somerecommendations, suggestions and new strategies for further research.
