The Protection And Retrofit Of The Traditional Dwellings In Shangluo, South Shaanxi Province

In recent years, the urbanization is gradually accelerated in our country.Under the influence of social development, many Chinese buildings with localcultural characteristics have lost their original appearance and turn to be thesame. The traditional dwellings which are full of characteristics are graduallydisappeared. Although Mr. Liu Dunzhen opened up the residential research fieldin our country and many researchers followed his research, but the research ofprotection still takes much time and energy. So the number of untappedtraditional houses has been decreased during the process. Nowadays, in additionto adhere to the study, we should be devoted to protecting the buildings. Ifwe hesitate of the protection, one day the dwellings will vanish.In this paper I took the dwellings in Shangluo Area in southern ShaanxiProvince as the research object. Then I summarized their regionalcharacteristics by studying the historical causes, residential status analysis,morphological characteristics and development prospects of them. Through theinvestigation of the residences in Shangluo area, I found that there is an onlyremaining in South Shangluo Area which has not been protection yet and has aunique architectural form. It is called “Daziliang”ancient slate dwelling.Then I made a further study of the features and problems of old slate houses,and I tried to find the most suitable development mode for them.
