The Research On The Architecture Modeling Feature Of Traditional Dwellings In Rongxiang, Wuxi

Rongxiang is situated in the westen waterfronted of Wuxi city which has been developed by the ancestors surnamed Rong who migrated from some other places here during the Ming Dynasty and multiplied here. After their multipling here, three seperated willages called Upper Rong , Middle Rong and Low Rong was formed acting as hematogenous tribe organized by surnames and consanguinity. Furthermore ,as it remained to be a little exclusive , it protcted its integrity of regional culture. However, nowdays, the Rongxiang has become an old and overcrowd residential area with 0.82 sq kilometers ranging from Mlddle Rong and Low Rong as its entire geographical bound.Though the Upper Rong has been destroyed by the urban civilizaton , the Middle Rong and Low Rong remain its original street patten with 157 considerably well protected characteristic old buildings situated randomly inside. So , this article conducts a research into the bulidings in the Middle Rong and Low Rong area.The current trational dwellings in Rongxiang includes few buildings constructed in Ming Dynasty and a majority of old ones bulit during the late Qing Dynasty and the initial period of the Republics. These traditional dwells changed with the shift of Rong family and had a certainly clear venation of development. After my personal analysis, these buildings can be classfied into three types such as basic models , developing models and models affected by the westen culture breeze.This paper mainly emphasizes on the achitectual modelling of these old dwellings. As the Rongxiang residences were reserved in a form of infest ,its interior form characters are different from other regional dwellings entiely; Under the regional cultural protection of Rong family, the bulidings in Rongxiang have developed a certainly clear venation which can be classified into three different residential models in form; although with an universality of dwellings in Rongxiang,these three types have some certain differences in detail, the so called individual difference;traditional residences are one part of our Chinese trational architecture and meanwhile are representatives of our Chinese architectile aesthetics.Due to the four reasons above,we can analyze them based on our research methods in two dimensions.Fist dimension: Using the typology to classify the types of these bulidings, abstracting its intrinsic forming regulation and its track of evolvement in accordance with the first and second reason above; Under the instruction of phenomenology ,analyzing the individual difference equivalent to the subtle modelling difference of decoration and pattern in accordance with the third reason above. Second dimension: During the real composition writing process,using the measures such as Chinese traditional architecture aesthetics ,architecture and semiology ,the pattern proportion of architenture modelling to analyze the architecture pattern of Rongxiang's old bulidings ranging from the individual one to the entire group , conclude the characters of modelling and inherent rules, explore the cultural connotation and cultural ideas of Rong family reflected by these modellings and discover the interactive relationship between dwellers and architecture modellings. The second chapter uses some typical examples to manifest the aesthetic characters of those dwellings'modelling. Base on that second chapter, the third chapter dissects the modellings of bulidings in Rongxiang and explore some representative modelling semiologies;the relationship of syntax between these semiologies as the same as ploys and rules of modellings;analyze the meanings presented by these modelling semiologies and the evolvement trace of Rong family's dwellings according to the change of their residential ideas.The fourth chapter bases on the analysis of the past two ones which have already analyzed the modelling elements, monocase and courtyard analyzing the beauty of these dwellings'modellings in a level of architecture group and with a macroscopical perspective of settlement of Rongxiang's old bulidings.Finally, this article hope can reveal the characters of modellings and forming regulation of these residences from different status and explore the implicit meanings behind these appearances in order to provide some theoretical references to the following research es and regional design.
