Study On Li Yi’s Acceptance Of Du Fu

Du Fu is a great realistic poet in Chinese history, and he is honored as the peak of ancient poetry realism. He wrote over 1400 poems during his life, which had great influence on later generations. The poetry heritage of Du Fu was not only the treasure of Chinese literature influencing the entire poetic circles of Tang Dynasty, it had also spread to North Korea and produced profound effects there. The lofty position of Du Fu in the history of poetry has enjoyed praise and compliments from Chinese and foreign poetry critics at both ancient and modern times. Li Yi, styled Zixin and his literary name Xinghu, is a great master of Learning School in the later period of Li Dynasty of North Korea and also an influential literary critic of Learning School. Star Lake Anecdotes by Li Yi is one of the outstanding works in the history of poetic theory and criticism of North Korea. As Du Fu is a poet having exerted profound influences on ancient poetry of North Korea, it is natural for Li Yi to review and comment on his works. Li Yi has paid special attention to Du Fu and his poems, which also plays a positive role in the literary creation of Li Yi.This paper applies the methodology of influence study of comparative literature in its study. Through Li Yi’s understanding and application of poems of Du Fu, this paper analyzes the acceptance situation of North Korean literati Li Yi on poet sage Du Fu.The paper is divided into four chapters.Chapter One firstly elaborates the purpose and significance of this study, and then expounds the research status, research scope and research methods.In Chapter Two, through Verse Door in Star Lake Anecdotes, the paper analyzes the comprehension and understanding of Li Yi on Du Fu and his poems, which can be divided into four aspects. Firstly, through the narration on liquor and immortals, Li Yi deems Du Fu as a drinker who loves wine but is not addicted to the substance of wine, which makes a drinker like this a true immortal. Secondly, through a comparison between Du Fu and Li Bai, Li Yi states that Du Fu has composed much more excellent double verses than Li Bai, reaching the conclusion that Du Fu is good at double verses. Thirdly, poems of Du Fu are inter-textual, which makes it better to use his poems to explain each other. Fourthly, poems of Du Fu have implications.Chapter Three is divided into three parts. The first part analyzes the stories related to Du Fu in Li Yi’s poems; the second part analyzes the acceptance conditions of Li Yi on poetic language of Du Fu according to the verses of the former one; the third part analyzes the acceptance conditions of Li Yi on verses of Du Fu according to the verses of the former one. Through analysis of stories related to Du Fu and application of his poetic languages and verses, the paper analyzes the influences of Du Fu and his poems on Li Yi and the characteristics of his poems and essays.Chapter Four generalizes the contents of the paper, and summarizes Li Yi’s understanding and quote conditions of poems of Du Fu. These reviews and summaries further explain the acceptance conditions of North Korean poet Li Yi on literature of Du Fu.
