Study On Shuoyuan’s Predicate-object Structures

Shuoyuan is one of the important classics of Xihan dynasty which is written by Liu Xiang. It is the important corpus of Xihan dynasty in today’s research. This paper attempts to make a comprehensive description and analysis of Shuoyuan’s predicate-object structuresfrom the types of the object, the relationship betweenthe Verbal predicate and the single object,the relationship between the adjective, noun, numeral predicate and the object,double object structure and the pre- object.And the relationship betweenthe Verbal predicate and the single object,the relationship between the adjective, noun, numeral predicate and the object,double structure and the pre- object are important parts in this paper.This paper first classify the objects in Shuoyuan mainly from the unit types and the meaning types.According to the meaning types objects can be divided into 19 parts.And on the base of this,we analyze 9 kinds of relationship between verbal predicate andthe single object.Second,we analyze adjective, noun, numeral predicates and their object. And finally we summarizes the predicates which canmatch two types of meaning of object.And then,we analyzes the Shuoyuan’s double object structure types, and induce the position of double object.Finally,we analyzes 4 kinds of pre-objects in Shuoyuan and illustrate the important role of the study on ancient Chinese predicate-object structure.
