Chuang tzu is one of classic books of Pre- Ch’in filled with superb intelligence and profound thought, and it is available for research in a wide range of investments. “San Yan” is the general name for “Yu Yan”, “Zhong Yan”, “Zhi Yan”in Chuang tzu by posterity, among the most significant expression is “Yu Yan”. Since the text itself is not very explicitly and always paraphrased it with the western concepts of fable directly, the present Chuang tzu’s “Yu Yan” research is very passive. Chuang tzu’s “Yu Yan” and the western fable theory system and China’s research on fables was originally in a different interface, although the word "fable"(“Yu Yan”) as a literature genre appellation is widely accepted. Firstly,”fable”is not a ready-made concept in Chuang tzu; and Chuang tzu’s “Yu Yan” should by studied as a whole in a large field or vision of the world fable system. And then, we can return to the text of Chuang tzu to open a new world.This paper is divided into two parts: The first part is about the definition of Chuang tzu’s “Yu Yan”. There are independences and combination during the exploring the Chuang tzu’s “Yu Yan” in both China and the West.
