Flight Dispatch Center Ops Procedure Manual-A Translation Project Report Of General Aviation Industry

This is a translation report of Flight Dispatch Center Ops Procedure Manual, an ordinary technical text in general aviation industry. The author worked for Beijing German Messe Exhibition Consultation Co. Ltd. during the sophomore year and was sent to help in its partnership companies. This manual is staff training material inside Fareast Aviation Co. Ltd, which serves as mainland business team for Sino Jet Management Co. LTD., the 2nd largest business jet management company in Hong Kong. The report was written in accordance with the whole translation process and can be generally divided into three stages:before, during and after translation. The report outlines the background, aim and meaning of this translation project, and then analyzes the source text from aspects of both content and language, with related solutions. The report focuses on translation process. In the preparation part, it explains how the three stages of dynamic equivalence and the usage of "sense group" work in practical translation tasks, assistance of online tools is referred, too. With domestication strategy as guidance and literal translation as main method, the report also shed light on details such as word meaning and long sentences, examples are listed in this part. The end of this report looked back this translation project and the whole year of internship, concludes that background information of one certain industry is vital for future work of MTI students. It also points out that a translator must learn and accumulate continuously to be qualified for various tasks.
