A Project Report On The C-E Translation Of The "Merchant Support" Of The Global E-Commerce Platform EBay

The conventional notion of e-commerce refers to the business activities based on Internet. In recent years, with the fast development of Internet and economic globalization, the conception of e-commerce has already broken through the limitation of domestic market and been extended to a world level, which yields cross-border e-commerce in such an open era. As the biggest e-commerce platform in the world, eBay is in the hope that more Chinese enterprises will promote their brands and products to the international market efficiently by accepting its professional assistance. For this purpose, eBay decides to launch this translation project on cross-border e-commerce with the cooperation of domestic universities.The report is based on the author’s internship experience in eBay from June 2014 to May 2015. The project is entrusted by eBay Inc. and organized by eBay China and PayPal China. At the very beginning of the report, the author introduces one of the three major difficulties of the project:how to ensure the progress and quality of translation work through pre-task preparation, while-task execution and post-task arrangement. In the following chapters, the author provides solutions to the other two major difficulties of the project:how to ensure the accuracy and fluency of translation with certain translation techniques and the assistance of translation tools. In the final chapter, the author summarizes the report and points out professional qualities for cross-border e-commerce translators such as solid S/T language, high cross-cultural consciousness, a wide range of business knowledge, etc.The report aims to provide reference to translators who would like to join the project team of translation for cross-border e-commerce in terms of project management and quality control of target texts.
