With the development of tourism in China, more and more foreign tourists are coming to visit China. So, the tourist texts play an increasingly important role. The earthen building is the treasure of Southwest Fujian, while a relevant study of the translation of publicity materials for earthen buildings is still needed.In the light of German translation theories of Skopos and on the basis of the collection of tour brochures, publicity materials and public signs, and webpages of Longyan and Zhangzhou earthen buildings in Fujian, this paper aims at studying and improving translations related with earthen buildings.Chinese tourist texts feature beautiful wording, rhetorical skillfulness, artistic image and cultural connotation, while English tourist texts are characterized by objective description, clear logic and impressive accuracy. The strategy of literal translation can be adopted when the source texts aim at delivering information. Exegetic translation is used to fill up the cultural blanks. Paraphrasing should be used when cultural differences occur. Domestication is a way to preserve our cultural heritage while loan translation facilitates cultural integration.The study is expected to strengthen the study of the translation quality of and theoretical guidance for tourist publicity material of earthen buildings.
