Language Taboo is a kind of cultural phenomenon which exists among nations in the world. Language Taboo covers wide range and reflects in every aspect of social life, affecting people’s verbal behavior and social communication.Language is the carrier of culture, China, Japan and England have different cultural background and historical origins which lead the difference among Lan guage Taboos. If we ignore this, it will lead misunderstandings in intercultural communication and cause cultural conflict. Analyzing and researching the Language Taboos in Chinese, Japanese and English and digging deep cultural reasons behind it can help us communicate better in intercultural communication.There are five chapters in this paper. The first is the introduction, mainly introducing the topic basis, the research status, the main content of the research, the difficulty, the innovation and the re search methods to be taken. The second chapter is a summary of language taboo, consisting of taboo’s conception and a brief analysis of the characteristics of taboo. The third chapter compares similarities and differences between Chinese and Japanese taboo : the similarities mainly involve the physiological events taboos, religious taboos, parts of the body taboos and blackguard; the differences mainly involve five aspects: the appellation taboo, topic of privacy taboo, sex and reproduction taboo, industry taboo, festival taboo and number taboo. The fourth chapter compares the means of avoiding the use of taboo between Chinese and English. The fifth chapter compares the reasons for the differences of Chinese-Japanese-English language taboos and explores the different reasons from history, psychology and c ulture perspectives.
