Application Of The Mural Art In The Contemporary Public Space

Because of its special way of the existence and realization which existence as mural attached to the "wall", its development and design from first to last are closely associated with building and environmental space.Because murals and walls are interdependent and indivisible, it is different from other types of art mural. its value is closely related to public space. With the development of science and technology and the progress of the society, people have more increasingly requirements about their own living environment. In meeting the basic material needs, spiritual needs sustained growth. Therefore, the decoration and beautification about public space has already become a kind of development trend. In addition, with the progress of the times, people’s sense of space and the architectural style will be changed. Mural art, which plays an important part in the public art, coming into the public view more and more and play important roles in the public daily life.Different with other easel arts, the decoration and publicity of murals makes it could be used in various public spaces widely such as airport, subway station, library, gymnasium, city plaza and other places. This paper expounds the concept of mural, public space and public art, and chooses many foreign and our nation’s typical mural works as examples, such as the subway mural works of Moscow, Paris, St Goer Tek friction. A detailed analysis of the mural art’s application in the public space of contemporary society has been talked about, in the point of view of ecology, education, humanities, etc.
