As a major motif of literary classics and movie and television culture, Initiation is also one of the important creative perspective to analyze Hong Kong film. At present, the researches on the intiation motif of Hong Kong film are infrequent, especially for the extension study of multi-cultural implications of this motif. This paper attempts to explore the culture connotations of the abnormal phenomenon that youth’s unsuccessful transition to adulthood, by taking the Hong Kong films since the 1980 s as researchful examples. This kind of film is based on the specialty of the unsuccessful transition to adulthood motif, and its narrative mode is also contrary to the traditional mode. The full text consists of six chapters. The first chapter points out the aims and approaches of this research. The second chapter analyzes the film characters. The third chapter makes research into the construction of film space. The fourth chapter is about the narrative strategies. The fifth chapter intends to review the social and cultural symptoms reflected from the unsuccessful transition to adulthood motif of Hong Kong film. The sixth chapter is the conclustion.
