A Study On The Comedy Elements In Chinese Classical Opera

Chinese comedy in classical drama has excellent traditional art. Chinese classical comedy got mature in the song and Yuan Dynasties, but its origin could be traced back to palace Paiyou performance in the five or six century BC. In the long-term development, China has accumulated numerous outstanding works of comedy. So, the study of China classical comedy has a very high aesthetic and literature value. The West Chamber is one of the essences of the classical comedy. It depicts primer’s daughter Cui Yingying and young scholar Zhang to fall in love at first sight, for the happiness of love and marriage with the old lady as the representative of the feudal forces in the struggle and eventually combine comedy. The fourth chapter summarizes the development and Enlightenment of Chinese classical drama, focuses on the analysis of drama adaptation of classical works and classical drama adaptation of the upsurge of revelation, the last chapter is the conclusion.Based on the above analysis, the following conclusion is drawn: comedy elements bearing laugh function, with comic elements is smile. In The West Chamber,the author used the artistic technique of comedy, conflicts between the characters and the setting, the use of comic language in order to achieve dramatic effect. By using these elements of comedy, Wang Shifu put the prime minister’s daughter Cui Yingying and young scholar Zhang Junrui in the temple a comedy love story portrayed like a painting, which is entrusted with the author strongly emotional speculation.
