The stone-carved Buddhism image in Northern and Southern Dynasties is a brilliant page in the history of Chinese engraving art history, with figurative Buddhism images which are exquisite beyond compare presenting in front of common people. We couldn’t help to praise the Ancient people’s superb carving techniques. Also, through the Buddhism image, we can acknowledge the philosophy, aesthetics, and secular life of that time. It’s like a recording instrument of history which enables us a deeper and all-sided understanding. The research core of this thesis is to provide some personal acknowledge according to the Buddhism image features in Northern and Southern Dynasties as well as their influence on the author’s graduation creation. Through my own research and practice on the development trend of modern sculpture.I learn stone-carved Buddhism image in China’s Northern and Southern Dynasties to realistic significance of the impact of modern sculpture.This thesis expounded from four aspects. In the first chapter, the topic selection background, purpose and significance of the study as well as the research content are elaborated. The second chapter is an overview about the Buddhism image features in China’s Northern and Southern Dynasties, including the generating, distribution as well as the artistic style of Buddhism image features in Northern and Southern Dynasties. The third chapter is mainly the personal views of the art characteristics of Buddhism image features in Northern and Southern Dynasties, including the aspects such as seeking dissymmetry in symmetry, exaggerated decorative beauty, innervations and steady, thin beauty, intelligence of the sketch, rich space art and contracted style, etc. The forth chapter is the analysis of how Buddhism image features in Northern and Southern Dynasties influences the author’s graduation creation, including the subject matter, carrier, manufacturing operation, problems encountered in the creation process, as well as the application of Buddhism image features in China’s Northern and Southern Dynasties in graduation creation. Through the studies,I reflect and look forward about the development of modern sculpture. |
