In recent years, the voice of the academic circles about building international relations theory of "Chinese school" is rising. Hoping to obtain knowledge and inspiration of the construction of "Chinese school", scholars pay their attention to the river of history in succession. This article is also concerned about this problem, but the time fixed in the period of the Republic of China(1912-1949).Having discussed three aspects about the construction of international relations theory during the period of the republic of China, which are discipline construction, academic research and school construction, the author considers: first, the discipline of international relations has been formed in the period of the Republic of China, both in the establishment of specialized faculty or the curricula are constantly improving; Secondly, in terms of academic research, the Republic of China scholars have achieved fruitful results, not only the emergence of flourishing journals and magazines, a large number of professional literatures emerged in international relations; but also the debate between international relations theories and approaches arose. Finally, although there is still a big gap between "Chinese school" and what international relation scholars often said the "English School" or the "American realism school", "liberalism", "constructivism" and so on, they cannot be equivalent to view, the "school" in the field of international relations research has emerged. This is also a kind of embodiment of school awareness or conscious, and an important enlightenment for the construction of international relations theory of "Chinese school".
