In 2013, the strategic conception of the “One Belt and One Road” was put forward, and the heroic undertaking of “the Silk Route Ecomomic Terrain” and “the21th Silk Route in the Sea” were built. Both of these drive The Silk Road in front of people all over the world. It is essential to research the noumenon of the Old Silk Road under the new development period. The Silk Road in Xinjiang is an important part of the Old Silk Road, which played an important role in history. The study of the Silk Road in Xinjiang during the period of the Han and Tang is combined with the historical period of the Silk Road along the evolution of natural environment change,resources and environment and the overall analysis of urban settlement system evolution,etc, which will bring advantages for building the prospect of the“One Belt and One Road”.The Silk Road in Han and Tang is taken as the research object the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region is taken as the study area in this paper. This research mainly contains two aspects of content: firstly, based on remote sensing image data processing and analysis, information of the ruins of the ancient Silk Road was extracted; secondly, combining the related historical documents, the archaeological data, the remote sensing image data with the field survey data, using spatial information technology on route of the Silk Road to redraw during Han and Tang, and analyzing the changes of the Silk Road and reasons.Primarily, it introduces the domestic and foreign research status of the ancient Silk Road, the deficiencies and the new research trends, relevant advanced technology such as information technology and space application in the study of the cultural heritage such as ancient Silk Road. Then, it introduces the historical literature, remote sensing image data and the process of gathering and settling materials of field survey data based on the Western and Eastern Han, Wei and Jin, Northern and Southern Dynasties, Sui and Tang as the time scale of studying, combines with the related sites of ancient culture and ancient road of spatial information technology to achieve the extraction, redraws Xinjiang desert history lines during the Han and Tang of the silk road, analyzes the spatial evolution process in Western Regions during the Han and Tang and the evolution process of the Silk Road in Xinjiang during Han and Tang depended on the natural geographical environment and social and cultural environment. Finally, it summarizes lack of information extraction and evolution study alone the road and puts forward the solution.
