With an increasing number of Chinese enterprises going global, quality English versions of Chinese corporate profiles are needed to provide company information, promote company products and foster company images. Quality English versions of Chinese corporate profiles play a significant role in attracting customers, winning credit and promoting sales. However, according to surveys to the English versions of some Chinese corporate profiles, a large number of English versions are compiled with problems, saying substandard translations due to pursuing the textual features of Chinese corporate profiles and expressing English in a Chinese way in following excessively the loyal principle. Given such context, the thesis proposes the theoretical guidance, principles and strategies for translating Chinese corporate profiles into English after building and analyzing corpora under the framework of Bhatia’s multi-perspective model. By conducting the study under the theoretical framework of Bhatia’s multi-perspective model, this thesis is also expected to enrich the guding theories of Chinese corporate profiles translation, as well as expand the application areas of genre analysis, which might be of reference significance for future scholars and studies. |
