Corporate profile, as an efficient way to promote a corporate, is of vital importance in the process of developing a multinational corporate. Thus, the purpose of corporate profile translation is to build a corporate image, express its core value and attract foreign consumers and partners. However, current translated versions, especially those of the newly emerged corporate, are far from satisfaction. Based on the framework of functionalist translation theory, the thesis is concentrated on an efficient way to ensure improvement in standards of translation.The author points out that, a translator should take readers'expectations and the purpose of translation into full consideration, and hence all the methods used in the translating process should focus on fulfilling the intended function of the target text in the target situation.Original English Corporate Profiles (OCP for short) and Translated English Corporate Profiles (TCP for short) differ greatly in textual features, since they belong to different texts in different language background. The thesis makes a contrastive analysis and discovers that the differences are caused mainly by their internal constraints. According to the composition of the text, differences between TCP and OCP can be summarized as follows. Firstly, they are different in introduction. OCP are more formulaic, while TCP are relatively more flexible both in form and content. Secondly, in the process of organizing the whole text, OCP and TCP have their own distinctive features in sequence forms. TCP show more concern for equivalent sequence forms. In contrast, synonyms, including and included sequence forms are more common in OCP. Thirdly, although TCP prefer to employ listing structuring, there are some discrepancies between them in text structuring as well. Original English Corporate Profile generally develop in a more natural way, while influencing the coherence of text structuring can be found in TCP. Finally, the analysis also shows that TCP and OCP have different kinds of conclusions. OCP are featured by various conclusions, such as citatory, instructive and conclusions with a point.Therefore, the translators should make his translations more acceptable to the expected readers. Through a contrastive analysis of OCP and Chinese Corporate Profiles (CCP for short), this thesis explores the inner causes for the differences and classifies them into four aspects as follows.Those problems are caused because the thinking pattern and expectation of the readers are not taken into full consideration. The author finally proposes some effective strategies for the C-E translation, such as omission, adding and textual restructuring, to achieve a better way to translate certain texts and produce better TCT.
