In the past 30 years, the study on classroom environment theory has been developed for one of the disciplines hot issues, which relates to sociology of education, educational psychology, linguistics, and language teaching. But in China, this topic is just at the starting stage. The classroom environment plays an important effect on students’ knowledge construction, emotional experience, and individual development. This paper will get the sights on Chinese university English classroom environment, combined with the newly established university, which is the specific practice of classroom environment theory combined with China. Therefore, it enriches the specific application of the classroom environment theory and further expands the range of cross-cultural research on classroom environment theory in China.On the basis of previous research, this paper selected 258 non English major sophomores as the research objects who come from Xi’an University of Arts and Science. This paper analyses and discusses the present characteristics and the reasons of formation. This paper analyzes the data through the questionnaire and interview to have a comprehensive understanding of the status of university English classroom environment, and finally puts forward the advantageous suggestions for College English teaching.This study draws the following conclusions based on the analysis of the data. Firstly, theoverall level of the Collage English classroom environment is in general. The basic situation of Collage English classroom environment perceived by the students is just good. But the students have obvious different reflect on the different elements of the classroom environment. Secondly, the difference between the boys and girls is obvious on the next seven aspects: classroom participation, teacher support learning, task orientation, cooperation between the students, classroom organization, responsibility consciousness and a sense of fairness. Thirdly, the students of different English levels show significant differences on the next seven aspects: classroom participation, teacher support learning, task orientation, cooperation between the students, teaching innovation, responsibility consciousness, and a sense of fairness. Finally, the most of elements of the English classroom and other factors show a close relationship, which refer to the grades of the CET, gender, the popularity of the English teacher.Finally, this study combines the present situation of the college English classroom environment with the development goals of the Xi’an University of Arts and Science, and gives some suggestions to optimize the college English classroom environment, which depends on respectively from nine internal factors. And the suggestions have been put forward and will help to improve the effect of teaching of the College English teaching. |
