According to the discussion in Hiromatu Wataru’s works, we found Hiromatu Wataru paid close attention to the theory of Husserl’s phenomenology, especially in Hiromatu Wataru’s Sonzai To Yimi, Kototeki Sekaikanno Zensyou, Tetugaku Nyumon Ippomae, and Fussaaru Gensyougakuheno Shikaku. From these works, we discovered that there is a kind of relationship between Hiromatu Wataru’s theory and Husserl’s theory. On the one hand, both Hiromatu Wataru and Husserl criticize psychological empiricism, especially John Locke’s’general idea’. It shows that Hiromatu Wataru has close affinities with Husserl’s theory. On the other hand, however, Hiromatu Wataru criticizes Husserl’s theory on idealism, intentionality, other ego, and intersubjectivity. For example, contrary to Husserl, Hiromatu Wataru disagrees with the opinion that idea can exist independently, and both perception and idea can exist. He also denies the existence of inner images and the contents of consciousness, the divorce between ego and body, the analogy of sympathy. It shows that Hiromatu Wataru is alienated from Husserl’s theory. At the same time, besides the affinity and the alienation between the theory of Hiromatu Wataru and Husserl, we also analysed the problems in the critique of Husserl’s theory:First, Hiromatu Wataru ignores the difference between’existence’and’being’which Husserl have made. Second, Hiromatu Wataru misunderstands the’inside’and’outside’in the theory of intentionality. Third, Hiromatu Wataru holds the attitude of naturalism which is rejected by Husserl.
