| This essay is a translation project report on the translation of the6thand7thchapter ofthe English novel The Surprise of Her Life which was written by Helen R. Myers and waspublished in2012. This essay mainly summarizes and categorizes the problemsencountered by the translator in the course of translation and provides the solution. Theseproblems are classified into three categories: the firstly discussed is the translation ofhigh-frequency words. Ease, gasp, murmur, announce, glance, slip, reachμ are taken asexamples. The second is the translation of interjections. The usage of interjection is veryimportant in the dialogue and there are many dialogues in this work; therefore thetranslation of interjections should be paid attention to. Thirdly, the translation ofinterrogative sentence is discussed. The author analyzed the translation of interrogativesentence from the perspective of illocutionary actμ. The author chose these aspects tomake this report because the translator got stuck with these problems in the course oftranslation. Since these problems are seldom discussed in the translation reports, theauthor hopes these problems would receive the attention of the translators. The last part isthe author·s reflection on this translation report, where the problems unsolved and thegains of the author are pointed out. |
