The high-frequency verbs are crucial for foreign learners at the primary stage of learning.Thus,the English annotation of high-frequency verb in elementary Chinese teaching textbook is an important reference for foreign learners.However,due to differences between English and Chinese in terms of lexical semantic complexity there are some problems in definition of high-frequency verb in elementary Chinese teaching textbooks.In view of this,the author chooses three sets of elementary Chinese teaching textbooks as research object,which are Chinese with Me,Developing Chinese and Conversational Chinese 301.Combining with relative theories of study on the English translation and explanation of high-frequency verb,the author compares and analyzes the English annotation of high-frequency verb in the three elementary Chinese teaching textbooks.The author searches for overlapped high-frequency verbs from glossary of the three sets of textbooks and analyzes their defining style and point out problems and list the causes in semantics,grammar and printing.In the end,from four perspectives the author make comments on the English annotation of high-frequency verbs in the three sets of Chinese teaching textbooks and puts forward some suggestions in order to make some contributions for Chinese teaching and provide references for design of Chinese teaching textbook,internationalization of Chinese teaching and further research of the English annotation of high-frequency verb.
