Biography of the Heroic Youth is the only novel of WenKang,which occupies animportant position in the literary arena of qing dynasty.The language of the novelvivid and distinctive,and it has always been the valuable corpus for Language studyabout qing dynasty.In order to show the use of overlapping forms and their respectivegrammar and pragmatic features objectively and comprehensively,supported by data,we reference the experience of predecessors to study all kinds of overlappingphenomenon in The Biography of the Heroic Youth.This paper consists of five chapters.The first chapter is A brief introduction of thecorpus, including the value of this book, predecessors’ studying achievement, thesignificance,purpose and research methods of this article,the type of overlap, thesituation of all kinds of overlapping cases in this book and so on.The second chapteris detailed analysis about the word formation overlap in this book, which can bedivided into two part(overlapping syllable and morpheme overlapping).It shows thatAA type is the most common and typical one in this part.The third chapter isoverlapping situation analysis from the syntactic level.This chapter can be dividedinto two part on the basis of degree of overlap,completely overlapping and incompleteoverlap.Depending on the type of overlapping,it can be further divided into somesmall classes,such as AA, ABB, ABAB, AABB, ABAC and so on.Under each smallclass, we continue to divide and discuss in detail according to the part of speech of thebase type.The fourth chapter is super syntactic overlap,which is usually calledrepetition in the field of literature.This kind of speech are easily confused withsyntactic overlap in some cases,so we use the method of comparative analysis todistinguish between the two.The fifth chapter summarizes the research achievementsand the deficiencies of this paper.Reveal the categories of overlap of this book on the basis of statistics is not only tosummary the existing research results,but also make up the shortfall of previousresearch on the atypical cases.It has important significance for promoting the overallawareness of value of language in this book and language characteristics in the qingdynasty.
