In recent years, there has been a worldwide upsurge of learning Chinese with theimprovement of China’s international status. More and more overseas devote into learningChinese in The Confucius institute, and the number of people coming China for learningChinese also rises sharply. So the enterprise of Teaching Chinese is developing veryquickly. As the trainings for the teachers who teach foreigners Chinese are becoming moreprofessional, the methods of teaching Chinese are also more creative and more diversified.The author also had some thinking and trying about teaching Chinese when Teaching as apart-time Chinese teacher of the institute of international education in HuaZhongUniversity of Science and Technology. The author found students had bigger interest andenthusiasm in learning Chinese when teacher playing music in or after class. The authordid some homework afterclass. Afer consulting the relevant materials about music andteaching,she found that there had a lot of materials in the field of music and teaching, butshe did not find the fact of the background music applied in teaching Chinese toforeigners.After summarizing many domestic and foreign researches, this thesis puts forwardshow to choose and use background music in the teaching. It also introduces the necessityand feasibility of using background music in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Inthis thesis there are two contrast researches of using background music respectively inlistening course and speaking class. The results of the experiments demonstrates thebackground music using in teaching Chinese as a foreign language has different effects inclass types. Casting as a drill guide jade, this thesis hopes the future researchers can makea more comprehensive experiment and exploration.The thesis consist of three parts: Part One is the preface. It mainly concerns about thereasons for choosing this topic, the meaning of the research、the theories and methodsadopted and the domestic and foreign researches background music.Part Two is the mainbody, including three chapters: In Chapter One, the necessity and feasibility of usingbackground music in teaching Chinese as a foreign language was introduced.Chapter Twodiscussed about the attention should pay to when selecting and using the background.Chapter Three explained two contrast researches of using background musicrespectively in listening course and speaking class. Part Three is the conclusion for thewhole thesis, which talked about the innovations and deficiencies, as well as some newtonics offered for further discussion.
