Address term is an integral part of human language system,and plays an indispensable role of interpersonal communication.Address term proficiency is also an important mark of acquiring the authentic language.So it is necessary to learn Chinese address terms for foreign learners.However,the culture diversity of different nations leads to differences of address terms in different languages,which makes it harder for foreign learners to acquire the brand new address term system of Chinese.Therefore,the difficulty of Chinese appellation system becomes a problem for both the teachers and the language learners.Based on the significance and teaching status of Chinese appellation,we investigate and analyze the textbooks,teachers and students to find out the current problems of Chinese address terms teaching,and put forward effective and specific solutions to solve all these problems.Besides the introduction and and conclusion,this paper is mainly composed of three chapters.In the introduction part,we introduce the research origin and the significance of this study,and discuss the research methods,the difficulties and innovation points of this study.Then we state the research status of this study from two aspects: the ontology and teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Chapter one is about the comparison and analysis of Chinese and English address terms.First,we define “address term”.Then we divide each Chinese and English appellation systems into two parts.One is kinship address terms,and the other is social address terms.At last,we do the contrastive study on these two parts to find out the similarities and differences,then analyze the causes of the differences.Chapter two includes three aspects.About the teaching material,we choose the textbook Developing Chinese as a sample to do the statistical analysis of the Chinese address terms in the books,and compared the materialwith English.Then we make comparison and analysis from these two parts and summarize the advantages and disadvantages of the textbooks according to the analysis results.Then,using the questionnaire survey to examine and interview both the students from English speaking background and the teachers who have the experiences of teaching English speaking students,in order to learn their attitude towards learning and teaching Chinese address terms and their problems during the learning and teaching process.Chapter three is about the suggestions.We make suggestions towards the teaching materials,teaching methods and learning strategies based on the above studies,and looking forward to improve the state of Chinese address terms of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.In addition,as to foreign Chinese learners,we hope they can overcome the problems of learning Chinese address terms,and improve their cross-cultural communication ability.In the conclusion part,we summarize the content of the study.
