The Preliminary Analysis Of Catacomb In Shanxi In The Warring States, Qin And Han Dynasty, Southern And Northern Dynasty

The earliest catacomb in Shanxi is found in yangbai site which is in the Longshan period at Wutai county, while in the Han dynasty the number of catacomb begin to rise. In Northern and Southern dynasty the catacomb still abound.In order to have a comprehensive understanding about characteristics in each stage of catacomb in Shanxi, the writer analyzes the Archaeological Typology of the ancient catacomb which is published and the related data can be used. According to the burial chamber shape, the catacomb is divided into four types A, B, C, D. In accordance with the shape of funeral pathway, the catacomb is divided into different subtypes.According to the proportion of the short side between burial chamber and funeral pathway, the catacomb is divided into different patterns. Besides, the writer analyze ancient catacomb in Shanxi by region.Through the comparative study of the different types of catacomb in Shanxi, it is concluded that A type of catacomb which contains the most patterns distributes the most widely, has the largest number and continues for A long time. B type of catacomb is mainly found in jinbei.Meanwhile it is obvious that the catacomb in the Warring States, Qin and Han Dynasty, Southern and Northern Dynasty in Shanxi is the research focus.Through the comparative study of burial head, cemetery area,burial ceremony, inner and outer coffins,burial objects placed,the sealed door,the top and the niche of catacomb in the Warring States, Qin and Han Dynasty, Southern and Northern Dynasty in Shanxi,the writer summarizes characteristics of catacomb in different regions and times.Besides, the writer analyzes the source of population of catacomb in Shanxi in the Warring States, Qin and Han Dynasty, Southern and Northern Dynasty. In the Han dynasty the people who use catacomb is follow which is in Spring and Autumn period and the Warring states, while in the Southern and Northern dynasty the people who use catacomb is the xianbei nationality or the han who is influenced by the xianbei. In addition, this article analyzes the catacomb between Shanxi and surrounding areas in the Warring States, Qin and Han Dynasty, Southern and Northern Dynasty.It can be found that the catacomb in Jinnan and Jindongnan have a higher similarity with Henan which could be the catacomb type of Qin culture. In the Southern and Northern dynasty the catacomb show a strong consistency in Jinbei and the Inner Mongolia which contains the burial culture characteristics of xianbei nationality.
