Comparative Study On Onomatopoeias Of The Local Dialect In Xinning County Of Hunan Province

Onomatopoeias in Xinning local dialect is the research object of this paper,It fully collects 154 onomatopoeias in Xinning local dialect using field survey method.It describes and analyses the classification,phonetic, structure, and syntactic functions, as well as rhetoric functions of onomatopoeias in Xinning local dialect.At the same time,it makes a comparative study on the common or different features of onomatopoeias between Xinning local dialect and Putonghua,which will highlights the characteristics of onomatopoeias in Xinning local dialect. This paper involves six chapters.In the aspect of classification,it displays the similarities and differences between Xinning local dialect onomatopoeias and Putonghua onomatopoeias in pattern simulation classification and phonetic structure classification through chart and statistics.In this way,we can find that onomatopoeias have national character.In the aspect of phonetic,it displays the diffirences between Xinning local dialect onomatopoeias and Putonghua onomatopoeias in frequency of appearance in every kinds of initial consonant of the syllable, compound vowel of the syllable and tone. Example sentences will show that the phonetic of onomatopoeias is tightly linked with the meaning of them.In the aspect of syntactic function,it fully proves that both Xinning local dialect onomatopoeias and Putonghua onomatopoeias can form new words in a variety of ways.What’s more, they can also act as different components of the sentences, such as subject,object, adverbial modifier, attribute, complement, predicate andindependence and so on.Comparing with Putonghua onomatopoeias,Xinning local dialect onomatopoeias have their own features.As the rhetoric functions,it mainly involves six aspects such as analogy,comparison, exaggeration and so on.
