Study Of Huang Zongxi’s Epitaphs

Huang Zongxi’s historical achievement is plentiful, and it is obvious to zhe people of the world. Lately, the enthusiasm of scholars on his historical works is deplorable, and their achievements are very rich. As a generation of master of historiography, compared to his historical works, the literature creation is really a drop in the bucket. However, there were many outstanding ones, as epitaphs creation was an example. Nowadays, more and more scholars are focus on his "zhuan" to research his epitaphs writing, but there were no one to make study on epitaphs alone. So we want to make a closer look, study his’Huang Lizhou Corpus’and to research the type of his tomb owner、ideological contents and artistic characteristics of Huang Zongxi epitaph creation, in order to make these to be the cushion stone for the follow-up research of Huang Zongxi.The first chapters of this paper discusses "the development of epitaph". From the beginning of the epitaph release, we make a briefly distinguish between "epitaph" and "tombstone", then we discusses the origin and development of epitaph.In the second chapter we make a discusses about these three types:the recognition of filial piety, recognition of academic scholars and other types in Huang Zongxi’s epitaphs, in order to explore the ideological connotation, the character of the owner and their career of his epitaphs. On the mean while, to make a deep-thought on what purpose that Huang Zongxi choose these tomb owners and to make a outlook of the social situation of Ming dynasty.In the third chapter of this paper, we discuss the aesthetic and artistic features of Huang Zongxi’s epitaphs. Epitaph is a kind of writing-style, with its development, there formed a writing specific gradually. However, Huang Zongxi’s epitaphs writing have broken the original program to be a breakthrough in the system form. In general, the epitaph writing is a narrative stiff stagnate, but Huang Zongxi’s epitaphs writing is a new styles:using discussion, pay attention to details, talk highlighted "charm", also used the "legend" strokes. All these made Huang Zongxi’s epitaphs not only have historical value. but also have very high literature value, so Huang Zongxi’s epitaphs have its own position in the history of the development of China’s epitaph.
