Animal novel is a unique form of literature, which targets to describe varieties of animals. Through the vivid description of the life of animals, the conditions and skills of their food seeking, courtship, and shelter as well as defending against enemies, it can help people, especially the teenagers, to explore the mysteries and interests of nature in order to give them some beneficial enlightenment and enjoyment. Therefore, translation of animal literature can help readers to know more about the animal world as well as enrich the emotion between human beings and animals.This translation practice report is about the biography of Sir Charles G. D. Roberts, a realistic animal fiction writer in Canada, aiming at getting a knowledge of the translation flow, including pre-translation work, translating in progress and after-translation work, using the translation theory and tactics to solve the problems in translation. In the final chapter, the experience and advice are summarized.This translation material is the further research of the translation project on Roberts’ animal novels, through which Roberts, the realistic animal novel writer’s life story and backgrounds could be known. Therefore, people could know more about the realistic animal literature. In addition, translating the biography is beneficial to improve the translation ability and of great significance for the future translation.
