This practice report is based on the translation of the first chapter from Animal Ghosts.This book is divided into eight chapters by different animal ghosts sighting in order to demonstrate that animals also have future lives.The purpose of this book is calling on everyone to be nice to animals no matter it's a street cat or an unknown horse.The writer of this report uses five chapters to describe and analyze the whole translation process,which includes the description of this translation project,the introduction of the translation process,the general theory and specific techniques which support her to translate this book from English to Chinese,specific translation case analysis and conclusion.In order to solve the intractable translation problems and cross-cultural points the translator met during the whole translation process,with the help of dictionaries,documents,online translation tools and search engine,combined with her own experience,“functional equivalence" of Nida and translation techniques,such as liberal translation,amplification and restructuring are involved in this translation report.The translator sincerely hopes this practice report could bring some comfort to those people who are going through a hard time because of the loss of their pets and also could provide some reference to those translators who is working on the translation with similar text features.
