This is a the translation project report.The source text of Chapter Seven Animal Welfare Without Consciousness and Chapter Eight The Two Pillars of Animal Welfare is selected from Why Animals Matter: Animal consciousness,animal welfare and human well-being,written by Marian Stamp Dawkins and published by Oxford University Press in 2012.This book mainly describes the definition of animal welfare and the relationship between animal welfare and human well-being.This translation project report consists of five chapters.Chapter One is a brief introduction to the translation project's background and significance.Chapter Two is some analysis of the source text,including an introduction to the author,style and linguistic features of the source text.Chapter Three introduces a guiding theory of the translator's translation practice-functional equivalence.Chapter Four describes difficulties as well as some translation methods and approaches in the process of translation.Chapter Five is a conclusion of the whole translation project,including lessons the translator learns from the project and problems that need to be improved.
